Our annual presentation evening took place at Carlisle Cathedral on Tuesday evening, when last year’s GCSE and A Level students’ exam achievements were celebrated. Once again, it was a truly rousing occasion.
The school’s Senior Choir and Dance Band performed to their peers who were celebrating the successes of Summer results. The Dance Band filled the Cathedral with some Jazz classics whilst Senior Choir, all 20+, performed accompanied by the magnificent organ of Carlisle Cathedral and an inspiring accapella rendition of Silent Night.
Headteacher, Chris McAree, welcomed everyone to the evening and reflected on the hard work and achievements of the students. Our current Head Boy (Ben Duddy) and Head Girl (Madeline Dearman) gave speeches, followed by the guest speaker, Nick Hayward (Founder & Creative Director of The Narrative Digital Studios), who was the Head Boy at William Howard School in 2003-04.
Year 11 students (of 2017-18) were congratulated by Head of Standards, Miss Carruthers, before being presented with their celebratory scrolls. It was then the turn for the ex-Year 13 students to be applauded and awarded by Assistant Headteacher (Post-16), Mr Bones.
Later in the evening, students followed the formalities with a party at the Crown and Mitre Hotel.
