WHS students, Oliver Wightman, Thomas Armstrong and Connor Dixon, represented Cumbria at the Lord’s Taverners North West Regional Tournament on Thursday, 7 February. They had a fantastic day and played brilliantly. In the first round, they played three matches against teams from Cheshire, Lancashire and Merseyside and won all of them convincingly. In their semi-final they met the team who went on to win the competition, Hebden Green from Cheshire. It was a closely fought match ending 6 – 5. The final end had to be measured by three different referees to decide the final score. They then played in a third – fourth play-off match against Ullswater Community College and again won this convincingly. They are waiting to hear whether they have a place in the National Competition. Fingers crossed! Well done boys!
