Year 11 took part in a careers event in school on Friday 5 October. The focus was on employability skills to support students with their upcoming work experience in December.
The sessions included Burnetts, DVN-QL, Job Centre Plus and Lloyd Motors who spoke to students about presentation skills, using initiative in the workplace, correct use of social media, research and interview skills. Hello Future and National Citizen Service offered activities to support confidence building.
Each student also undertook a mock interview with external interviewers from CFM, Armed Forces, Cumberland Building Society, University of Cumbria, Gen2, RWP, Carlisle College, Newton Rigg and Pirelli. The feedback from employers stated how impressed they were with the students across the day and an individual feedback form on the interview performance was given to each student to take home.
