On Monday and Thursday this week, Miss Lynch and Mrs King were accompanied by members of the Student Council, who set about delivering over 90 Christmas stockings to some of our local senior citizens.
The stockings were made up from donations from staff, students and parents and contained everything from sweets and chocolates, to bath sets, notebooks and festive goodies. The charity drive, headed up by Miss Nicholls and Miss Lynch, involved students making up the stockings over break and lunchtimes, as well as collecting donations from form groups. The main idea behind the stockings was to provide senior citizens who could not attend the school tea party, with the opportunity to chat to our students and receive a festive treat. Stockings were delivered to Moot Lodge Care Home, Howard Court Care Home, Green Lane House and Bramble Court. A special delivery of toiletries and stockings was also delivered to the Cottage Hospital at the request of one of our students, Liam Murray, who is planning to raise money for the hospital in the summer.
The students were an absolute credit to the school and excelled in their impromptu-singing skills, singing Christmas carols to the senior citizens. A big thank you to everybody involved.
