Geographers Explore the Bay of Naples

Following the success of the Geography Department’s trip to Iceland in October 2017, this year’s Geography/Geology Trip for KS4 students was to The Bay of Naples, on the Amalfi Coast, Italy. This area is a very popular destination for fieldtrips due to the wealth of geographical and geological features and processes. It was an excellent opportunity for our students to see and experience many of the places, processes and geographical events that they study as part of the GCSE courses, with plenty of time left over to explore the local area. The trip took place during the half term holidays and the itinerary included a quick visit to Mount Vesuvius; a visit to Pompeii; a day trip to Capri – including the a boat trip around the island; a walking tour of Rome; underground caves in Napels; as well as lots of homemade pizza and gelato.
