Our Law Department was proud to compete in a Bar Mock Trial Competition at Newcastle Crown Court, on Saturday, 1 December. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to see what a real courtroom feels like and be involved in the criminal justice process. It was also a chance to build confidence in team work and public speaking.
The students had a wonderful time as they learned how the crown court works. Some took the role of witness, defendant or jury member. We had four barristers, Monique Bailey, James Knight, Verity Cartwright and Madeline Dearman-Hill, who gave a sterling performance and represented the school magnificently. WHS Law Teacher, Miss Hopley, was bowled over by the professionalism of all 14 students.
