Scores of students were involved in our annual School production, which this year was the musical Les Misérable. It was a sell-out success! Rehearsals began in September, and the quality of the performances that took place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evening was spectacular. Matinees on Wednesday and Thursday were also given for a primary school audience and senior citizens from Brampton.
Les Miserable is based on the 1862 novel by French writer, Victor Hugo. It tells the story of a French peasant and his attempts to redeem himself after serving 19 years for the theft of a loaf of bread for his sister’s starving child. Events take place in revolutionary France, where a group of young idealists attempt to overthrow the government. The dialogue is sung throughout.
