As part of our annual My Money Week competition across the Cumbria Education Trust schools, this year we have teamed up with Carlisle Lake District Airport.
Carlisle Lake District Airport will be running their first flights for passengers at the beginning of July and have asked if pupils can design an item that symbolises what having the airport will mean to Cumbria. Designs could include a person, landmark, historic moment or may symbolise the amount of extra tourism that will happen as a result (for example, weddings in the Lakes).
The winning design will be made into an item that will be given to the first 100 passengers. In order to make the item in time, the competition is starting a bit earlier this year. The winners and their families will also be invited to the opening of the Airport and be given a tour and meal as well as viewing the Air Traffic Control Tower.
The Cumberland Building Society have sponsored the event in relation to prize money with the winner gaining a £100 Junior ISA, and the runners up £50 Junior ISAs.
