The Award is for schools who have demonstrated a thorough, whole school commitment to developing an international ethos which permeates a significant range of curriculum areas and age ranges and have collaborative activities with an overseas partner school.  The scheme is managed by the British Council, on behalf of the DCSF and is highlighted in their international strategy as “a major prize for excellence in this field”.  Over 1000 schools across the country have this prize for international excellence.

As part of our continuing commitment to our links with Uru school in Tanzania we have been reviewing all the links we have with countries around the world and how we incorporate this work into our teaching and school life. This has proved to be fascinating work as there are so many ways we work with our global community. In order for all this fantastic work to be recognised we have submitted evidence to the British Council and have received an award to show full accreditation as an International School.

Marianne Henry the team leader for this years Tanzania exchange group attended the award ceremony in London on the 10th October and was presented with our award by George Alagiah. The school is really proud to have had all our work officially recognised in this way and we will continue to build on our International Links.
