Over 65 Year 3 and 4 pupils from our feeder primary schools attended a trampolining and badminton festival at William Howard School, on Thursday 18 October. Children from Lees Hill, Crosby, Great Corby, Castle Carrock, Lanercost, Fir Ends, Brampton, Hayton, Warwick Bridge and Longtown participated in taster sessions of both activities after school.
The pupils spent 30 minutes learning how to safely bounce on the trampoline before learning the basic tuck, pike, straddle and then seat drops.
During the badminton session, pupils participated in a team warm-up before developing their ability to hit the shuttle back to a partner. They went on to practice serving, before playing mini games. All pupils demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and it was great to see pupils from different schools working together.
A big thank you to Mrs Trickett who led the trampolining sessions and to the Year 9 Sports Leaders who led the badminton activities and assisted with the trampolining. Also thank you to the staff from Great Corby, Hayton, Castle Carrock and Brampton who supported the festival.
