‘The Code Show’, a travelling computer museum, docked in the WHS Sixth Form Centre on Thursday, 13 June. Gary McNab (the founder of The Code Show) brought along an array of historical hardware from the 1970s through to the present day; giving hands on access to vintage computer technology to a new generation, and telling the story of how the UK adopted this new technology.
WHS students that took part in the Oxford Coding Challenge earlier in the year spent the morning tackling coding and problem-solving challenges with these machines. It gave them the chance to play, explore and learn about the history and the limitations of early technology.
Among the historical items was a Sinclair C5, which our Design Technology Curriculum Leader (Mrs Dixon) was clearly thrilled to see and try out!
