World Book Day 2019

To mark World Book Day this year, WHS Library staff organised a host of activities and events.

We were very pleased to welcome author Sharon Gosling into the Library for a Question & Answer session and book signing. Sharon is the author of many popular books for young people. Students had the opportunity to chat, ask questions, look for ideas and buy a signed copy of one of her books.

Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 had the chance to grab a brand new book from our Big Book Giveaway. A selection of fabulous titles were offered on a first come, first served basis. It didn’t take long for all the books to find new readers!

A reading challenge was launched for Years 7 and 8 students, with Achievement Points and prizes for all participants, and there was a special WBD Quiz for all year groups too.

Tomorrow (Friday), there will be a whole school Story Relay. A gripping horror story has been chosen by our Librarian, and students will be read a 5-minute instalment of it at the beginning of each lesson. They’ll have to wait to Lesson 5 to hear the chilling end!
