Year 9 students took part in a careers morning on Tuesday. The year group will shortly be choosing their GCSE courses, so it was particularly valuable in focusing their attention on possible career pathways and which subjects would be most suitable for their aspirations. Along with different training providers including Newton Rigg, RWP and the University of Cumbria, there were representatives from local employers such the Cumberland Building Society, Butterworths, Lloyd Motors, HSBC, DVN-QL and the Armed Forces. Hello Future, an organisation which supports young people across Cumbria to progress to higher education, provided workshops on linking careers to the students’ hobbies.
Each Year 9 student undertook a mock interview with one of the external interviewers and were given feedback on their interview performance and advice on how to improve their interview technique.
