A Place in the Finals, Finally!

On Thursday, 6 February WHS’s Boccia team competed in the Boccia England North West Regional Finals in Liverpool. This is the fifth year in a row that the team have reached this stage of the competition, but they have never been able to go beyond this point. Well, this was their day!

There were sixteen teams altogether. Our team played three matches in their pool against others from Manchester, Merseyside and Lancashire and won them all to nil. They were “on fire”, as one of the spectators commented. This put them through to a semi-final against Broadgreen IS from Merseyside which they again won to nil. They then met Trinity School, Carlisle in the final. This was a more difficult match for them but they held their nerve magnificently and won 8-0, earning themselves a place in the National Finals in Stoke Mandeville in June. A superb all-round performance.

Congratulations to Oliver Wightman, Thomas Armstrong and Connor Dixon.
