Marnie Murdie is our Alumna of the Month for December.
Marnie left William Howard School in 2018 and knew she didn’t want to go to full time University. Marnie had completed two years of work experience during her AS and A Levels and loved the work environment more than the academic! After Sixth Form, Marnie started to work for the local land agency firm, Edwin Thompson, where she had completed her work experience. When researching the routes to become qualified in this practice, Marnie noticed that Harper Adams had just released their new Degree Apprenticeship course. She applied and was lucky enough to be accepted into the first enrolment. Completing her degree whilst working full time enabled Marnie to experience the best of both worlds, enjoying the university lifestyle whilst gaining important practical experience. Five years later and she graduated from Harper Adams with a degree in Rural Estate and Land Management. In this time, she changed employer and progressed her career. Since graduating, Marnie has gone on to achieve a Fellowship of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers and is currently taking Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors APC to become a Chartered Rural Surveyor.
Marnie would like to pay special thanks to her A-level teachers in Business, Psychology and Law who she felt “had continued confidence and faith in me and gave me a solid understanding of each of these subjects which each have contributed massively to my successful career”.
