There are surprising hidden talents in our staff body. Did you know that Maths teacher, Mr Davis was recently crowned the Cumbria County Chess Champion?
Mr Davis described the competition: “The tournament is run by Cumbria Chess Association, and this year it was held at Crosby and Ravensworth Village Hall. It was spread over 3 days and consisted of 5 long rounds – some of the games can last as long as 5 hours! The highest scorer at the end of the 5 rounds, wins. I have entered a number of times, but this is the first time I have won it!”
Thankfully, Mr Davis runs our popular Chess Club along with Mr Connolly during Wednesday lunchtimes. Here he is, pictured right, taking on brave opponent, Mr Campbell at the start of a game.
