Four of our exceptionally talented, budding chefs took part in the school’s heat of this year’s Future Chef competition this evening. The brief was to make a main meal for under £5, and in the process display as many high-level skills as possible, showcasing techniques and presentation styles.
The competing students and their dishes were:
- Poppy Gregory – Egg yolk ravioli with black pudding bonbons and salsa verde
- Katie Elder – Spinach and bacon striped tortellini with tomato sauce
- Ethan Wilson – Jerk-style chicken with mango slaw
- Natasha Fell – Seabass with roasted asparagus, ribbon vegetable and soy reduction
It was a very close competition, with only 3 marks between first and second place! The runners-up with fantastic efforts were Katie Elder and Ethan Wilson – a fantastic well done to them both for their impressive efforts. In second place was Natasha Fell, with the overall winner being Poppy Gregory. They will now go on to compete at the regional finals in Kendal in December.
