Learning From Amazon Engineering

On Thursday, the Year 10 Computer Science students participated in an “Amazon Future Engineer Virtual Fulfilment Centre Tour”, watching from their classroom as they were shown around how Amazon uses computer technology to respond to the orders of customers across the country. They had a box-eye view of the roller coaster around a fulfilment centre and saw how robotic technology was being used. They were also introduced to some of the programmers who are employed by Amazon to improve the use of technology even further. This will be the foundation for some of their work for a few lessons, and it was an inspiring start to the project.
