I am writing to inform you that on Wednesday, 16 June we received updated guidance from Public Health Cumbria with regard to Covid19 spread within the county. This guidance recommends that we return to students wearing face masks while in communal areas until further notice. As this is advice from Public Health we must ensure that we follow their recommendations for the safety of everyone.
Therefore, from Monday, 21 June, all students should return to wearing a face mask while in communal areas, unless they have a medical exemption.
The students will not be required to wear the face masks in lessons or at social time within their year group bubbles.
I have additionally included a letter from Colin Cox, the Director of Public Health for Cumbria, on the current situation within Cumbria: CCC COVID School Letter
We continue to recommend that students undertake twice weekly Lateral Flow Tests and report the results to the NHS. While, as a school, we have not had any positive cases since early March we do know of significant disruption in other local schools starting to happen again and it is highly likely that we will see some positive cases in the coming weeks.
Through the voluntary testing and by following the Public Health guidance we hope that we will avoid, as much as possible, any potential disruption to the education of our students.
