After a night of snowfall in Brampton we discovered hundreds of naturally occurring snow features on the top yard this morning. The shapes are known as ‘wind snowballs’ and are formed when snow falls on a thin surface layer of wet, loose snow. This slippery surface allow snowballs to form due to the action of strong winds. Some of the snowballs have been rolled or pushed across the surface by strong winds, and have a distinctive trail behind them.
