Mrs Sim’s Year 9 English group found a tasty way to work on developing their writing and oracy skills – in small groups they’ve been designing new chocolate bars.
In designing their bar, they had to consider something new and different about it. They then had to pitch their ideas, with each group member taking a turn to speak. The speech had to explain their concept for the chocolate bar, using descriptive language to present it and persuasive language devices to make the audience want to buy their bar.
Natalia and Bow were voted the winning group, with their Poppin’ Bar – an exciting taste sensation apparently, filled with popping candy.
Other bars included ones for gym lovers, which contained protein and was ethically produced, another was in the form of letters to develop literacy skills along with taste. There were also bars to evoke a sense of a holiday, a new take on the classic Reese’s bar, a sweet to transport you to another galaxy, a hippy-inspired bar and a luxury treat.
Mrs Sim said, “Their work was incredible!”
