Year 7 and 8 students took part in a Careers IAG day, focusing on a variety of career pathways to spark an awareness in where their qualifications could take them in the future. The sessions linked to local labour market information and identified future skills gaps for when these year groups leave school, such as agriculture, health, the public sector, engineering and computer science.
We had a “future of farming” session run by Kendal College; an alumni of William Howard spoke of his career in AI; Carlisle College and WHS representatives spoke about pathways beyond school and WHS prefects took students on a tour of the Sixth Form Centre. GEN 2 discussed careers linked to STEM subjects, and the Civil Nuclear Constabulary brought along a marked vehicle and showed students some equipment they use and talked about careers in the public service.
