The WHS staff walking club enjoyed their first outing of the year on Saturday, despite the cold, cloudy conditions and a spatter of the inevitable rain. Everyone was in good spirits and appreciated the time to chat and enjoy each other’s company, outside of the usual busy school day.
Setting off from Bassenthwaite, they were led by Mr Mothersdale (WHS Physics teacher who happens to be a very experienced mountain lead) and headed south through the lovely woodland of Wythop Woods in a loop that saw some quite steep stretches. Their route wound back through Hogg Park then up to the summit of Sale where, perfectly timed, the sun shone, revealing the magnificent views around. In spite of the cold wind as they headed down, there was plenty of excited chatter about where to go next time!
