I hope that everyone has had a relaxing and enjoyable Christmas break. It will be good to see the students return to school this week. As we look forward to the start of the new year there are a few things I would want to remind everyone of.
As has been widely covered by the media it is expected that all students will wear face coverings whilst inside school, including in classrooms and during lessons. I know that the students will continue to comply with our expectations of them and we all hope this is a temporary measure for a limited period of time.
All students are being given the opportunity to undertake a supervised LFD test during their first day back in school. If you haven’t already done so, and would like them to take part, please complete the consent form here for your child. If you are unable to do this, then please complete the consent form we sent to you prior to Christmas, which will of course be accepted on the day.
Lateral Flow Testing Home Packs
All students are encouraged to do twice weekly testing at home once they have completed the on-site test on Wednesday or Thursday. The testing kits will be available for students to pick up as normal in school. We will be limiting students to one box of 7 tests this week so we can manage our stocks at the start of term.
Start of Term
A reminder that the start of term is staggered to allow us to undertake the testing of students during their first day of attendance in school:
- Wednesday, 5 January – Years 7, 11, 12 and 13 should return to school as normal. Years 8, 9 and 10 are expected to complete the remote learning work set for each of their timetabled lessons on the school’s VLE.
- Thursday, 6 January – All students are in school as normal.
There is no doubt that there will inevitably be a degree of disruption due to Covid during the half term. As a school we will do all we can to mitigate against this, but at times we know students are going to be absent as will members of staff. We will endeavour to keep you as informed as possible as we go forward.
