Every year we celebrate the end of Year 11, and this year is no exception. This has been an extraordinary year and the resilience and focus shown by our Year 11 students has been remarkable. I’d like to outline the events that will be held to mark the end of KS4 and anticipate the transition to post 16 education.
These will be on sale from the week commencing Monday, 10 May. Orders must be made via the online form here: Year 11 Hoodie Order 2021 — William Howard School. The cost will be £20 and payments can be made via ParentPay.
A year group photograph will be taken on the morning of Monday, 24 May. All Year 11 students should go directly to the Sports Hall at the start of school. Immaculate uniform is expected. Details about how to purchase the photograph will be available closer to the date.
Year 11 Assembly
There will be a final Year 11 assembly on Friday, 28 May. Students should attend school wearing smart clothing and should bring a school shirt. A light breakfast will be served in the main canteen, where the students will be able to spend time signing shirts before an assembly with performers, video tributes and shared memories. Students will be dismissed from school at around 11.30am after the conclusion of their assembly. We hope this will give them time to have an afternoon celebrating the end of school with their own friends and families.
Sixth Form Bridging Lessons
From Wednesday, 16 June to Thursday, 1 July inclusive, Year 11 students intending to return to Sixth Form at William Howard School will be required to attend bridging lessons where they will be prepared for the post 16 options they have chosen to study at KS5. Further details have been sent out by the Sixth Form team.
Year 11 Prom
We are very excited to announce that a Year 11 Prom will be held on Friday, 9 July at Garden at Eden. Ticket prices will be confirmed next week and will be on sale on ParentPay.
If you have concerns about paying for any of these events or items, please contact the Year 11 team where your request will be handled in confidence.
I look forward to putting the final touches to the plans for all these events and sending out the final details. Let me take this opportunity to thank you and your families for supporting our school community throughout the pandemic, and indeed, over the last five years.
The future looks bright.
Ms Ledger, Director of Learning – Year 11
