As part of the Year 9 curriculum for the next academic year, your child will have the opportunity to choose three subjects as part of the ‘Creative Curriculum’. This will entail choosing three creative courses to study throughout next year.
A short talk has been given in the online assembly to all Year 8 students explaining the courses, and further detail is outlined on the VLE here: https://vle.williamhoward.cumbria.sch.uk/options/year-9-creative-curriculum-2020.
Students are able to view the online assembly via the emailed link if they were unable to view the assembly live.
Students are asked to read the information about each course and choose carefully the three courses they would like to study next year, plus three reserve choices. The aim of the curriculum is to broaden students’ experience of the arts and creative subjects through a focused exciting programme of study. Students will study each chosen course for an hour a week.
If oversubscribed, places will be allocated impartially at random and some courses may not run if numbers are not financially viable.
Please note that the creative curriculum choices that your child makes, does not affect the GCSE choices that they may take in Year 9.
Please support your child to make their choices and ensure the online option form (https://vle.williamhoward.cumbria.sch.uk/options/year-9-creative-curriculum-2020/creative-curriculum-option-form) is completed by Friday, 5 June 2020. If you wish to discuss anything about the creative curriculum further, please do not hesitate to contact me via email (firstname.lastname@example.org).
I have outlined the Year 9 curriculum below, for your information.
