While others were just beginning the Easter holidays, a group of our energetic students and Performing Arts staff were embarking on a 24-hour danceathon. Between 4:30pm on Friday, April 4, and 4:30pm on Saturday, April 5, the dancers tackled ballet, Irish dancing, musical theatre, cheerleading, as well as a dance battle and Beyoncé masterclass.
They took on this epic challenge to raise funds for their once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform at Disneyland Paris in July. Thanks to their efforts, the students have raised £1,410, including £955 through their GoFundMe page, which will be used to buy uniforms and equipment for their performance.
The 24-hour challenge was split into 22 separate sessions and included an aerial yoga session lead by Anne Hodgson from Yoga For All, a live performance by Carlisle singer and songwriter Carys May, and a 2am rave including Glow sticks.
Miss Inglesfield said: “The students were amazing. They showed bags of resilience throughout the 24 hours. We kicked off with a dance workout session led by me and finished with a lip sync battle. Students not only took part in the sessions but led and choreographed routines to teach each other.”
