Our students really have been relishing the various Outward Bound experiences offered this term.
This week, a small group of students had an unforgettable time at the OB Centre at Ullswater, filled with adventure, teamwork and personal growth. Over three days, they took part in a wide range of exciting activities including rock jumping, canoeing across Ullswater in teams, gorge walking, rowing and a variety of team-building challenges.
Throughout the trip, all seven students demonstrated incredible resilience, positivity and support for one another. It was fantastic to see the strong relationships that developed as they encouraged each other through every activity. Some students were understandably nervous about certain challenges at first, but with reassurance from their peers and the instructors, they pushed themselves out of their comfort zones and gave everything a go. Their confidence grew noticeably each day, and it was amazing to watch them achieve things they may not have thought possible at the start of the trip.
The highlight for everyone was undoubtedly gorge walking. The activity brought plenty of excitement, laughter and teamwork, and it was clear how much every student enjoyed the experience. From helping each other through difficult sections to celebrating together afterwards, it perfectly captured the spirit of the trip.
Their teacher, Mrs Sharpe, remarked: “These three days have been some of the most rewarding and enjoyable time spent with this group of students. Watching everyone work together, support one another and share so many laughs has been incredibly special. In such a short period of time, the students have developed a wide range of important life skills including communication, resilience, teamwork, confidence and perseverance. They should all be extremely proud of what they achieved during the trip.”
OB Instructors Dan and Tom commented on how positive and engaged the entire group were throughout, showing fantastic team spirit and said it was a brilliant three days. They were impressed with how well the students worked together and provided each other with encouragement.
