Starting from Tuesday 20th June, we welcomed our Year 11 students and those joining us from other schools for our three-day Step Up to Sixth Form programme.
Students were welcomed by Miss Nicholls, Assistant Headteacher – Sixth Form, Mrs Giecco, Student Manager, and Mr Connolly, who will take up the role of Director of Learning in September.
Throughout the three days, students explored the values and ethos of Sixth Form, reflected on their expectations and aspirations, and took part in subject taster sessions to gain insight into their chosen courses, alongside opportunities to explore alternative subjects before making final decisions.
Students also completed sessions on developing positive habits and effective learning behaviours through the VESPA model, which will continue to be embedded through PD across Years 12 and 13. They were introduced to Unifrog to begin exploring future subject and career pathways, and learned more about our one-year enrichment opportunities including EPQ, Maths Studies and the Sports Leadership Qualification.
Subject teachers have set Get Ahead Tasks to help students prepare for independent study and get ready for September.
Alongside all of this, there was time to spend with friends and enjoy the social side of Sixth Form life in the common room.
We look forward to welcoming our new Year 12 cohort in September.
