Liv Rowley (now Young) is our January Alumna of the Month. Liv left William Howard School in 2012 after completing her first year in Sixth Form. She took on a range of jobs including providing administrative and personal care to elderly residents within their own homes. This work was a springboard to Liv, alongside a colleague, opening a home care service, which is now very successful in the Carlisle area.
During her time at WHS Liv enjoyed IT, Health & Social Care and Design Technology. From there she found a love of both website creation and the NHS, Liv now works for Cumbria Health on Call (CHoC). After multiple attempts, she said “Don’t get disheartened from knock backs, everything happens for a reason.”
Liv began as a Digital Support Assistant working on a Digital Care Home project before moving on to work as a Digital Information Assistant, learning SQL, writing reports and the use of Power BI to process the data that comes in and out of CHoC as well as managing their social media and website.
Her current job role in CHoC is Digital Communications Officer. This has arisen from the love and interest in social media and comms. Liv feels she gets to use her creativity and humour in her work; creating infographics and keeping the website up to date along with going to networking events, award ceremonies and much more. Liv is married, with a daughter. Her motto in life is, “You only live once, so make it worth living. Have no regrets!”
