Our alumnus of the month for November is Nathan Little who attended William Howard School from 2012 to 2017. Nathan left school to study Uniformed Public Services at Newton Rigg College for a year before joining the Army Foundation College Harrogate, where he completed his basic training and started phase 2 training as an Electronics Technician. He gained a Level 4 qualification in Electronic Engineering and is currently a class one engineer at the rank of corporal. Nathan has fixed kit and equipment such as the guided missile launch rocket system (GMLRS) and the Starter RCV (bomb disposal robot), as well as secret electronics counter measure kit.
Nathan has completed an operational tour of Estonia and has been on a NATO exercise in Germany. He is currently working at the tri-service Centre for Bomb Disposal Training.
Nathan’s favourite subject in school was maths and it has helped him massively through his training with engineering.
He would like to convey to our students that going to university isn’t for everyone as a lot can be achieved from other routes, and states: “The army is a perfect example of this and is a fantastic career opportunity to explore the world and gain some amazing life experience as well as gaining free qualifications!”
