Jacob Blain left WHS in 2012 after completing Year 12. He moved on to Carlisle College where he completed an extended Diploma in Sport. Continuing his studies at Northumbria University, he undertook a degree in Sports Science with Coaching where he found an interest in analysis. While studying, Jacob began an analysis internship with Blackburn Rovers and then with Newcastle United. After graduation, he become an academy analyst at Middlesbrough Football Club before joining Carlisle United in 2019, where Jacob leads analysis provision for the first team as well some scouting for new talent. As part of his role he provides detailed reports on opposition teams prior to games and provide pre and post-match analysis presentations to the team with key insights leading up to games.
During his time at WHS, Jacob really enjoyed PE and made several life-long friends through playing sport. Jacobs biggest message to current students would be to find something you really enjoy doing and try to get some experience doing that in a work place as early as possible, as it so important to enjoy what you do as a career.
If you’re a past student, we’d love to hear what you are doing now to help inspire and encourage our current students. Please visit https://williamhoward.fireflycloud.net/alumni/alumni-form, so we can keep in touch.
