William Howard School narrowly beat Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in an ‘edge-of-your-seat’ basketball match yesterday.
In the first external basketball match that WHS have played in a number of years, Jack Turnbull, Charlie Wightman, Jay Mackay, Harry Whittaker, Theo Lamont and Seb Tyson took on a well-drilled QEGS team.
WHS trailed in the first quarter but brought it to a 11-11 half time score. The third quarter was 19-12 to WHS, solid, confident passing was the key ingredient. QEGS came back strong and with 10 seconds on the clock received a penalty. An intercepted pass gave WHS possession and the game to win 23-22.
High five to all the team members and thank you to Jack for encouraging the fixture and training.
