Last night, students and staff gathered at Skitby House for the annual Sports Ball, a fantastic evening celebrating another successful year of achievement, dedication and participation in PE and extracurricular sport.
The event brought together students from all year groups, creating a wonderful atmosphere as everyone reflected on the highlights and successes of the past year. A delicious meal was enjoyed before the evening’s awards ceremony, which recognised the outstanding commitment, effort and accomplishments of students across a wide range of sporting activities.
Prestigious awards were presented, including Most Valuable Player/Performer and Most Improved Player/Performer awards in a variety of extracurricular sports. Students were also recognised for their achievements in academic PE, alongside several other PE-related awards that celebrated excellence, leadership, commitment and contribution to sport throughout the year.
The awards highlighted not only exceptional performances and results, but also the determination, resilience and sportsmanship demonstrated by students both in lessons and while representing the school. The evening’s top honours recognised some truly exceptional achievements.
Sixth Form students Luke P and Isabelle M were commended with Sports Persons of the Year awards, recognising not only their outstanding contribution to PE and school sport, but also their commitment to competing at a very high standard outside of school. Both students have demonstrated an exceptional ability to balance the demands of high-level sporting participation with academic success, consistently maintaining excellent standards and achieving outstanding grades across their A Level subjects.
The Endeavour Award was presented to Mia P, recognising resilience, determination and commitment throughout the year. Meanwhile, the Year 10 A Netball Team were deserved recipients of the Team of the Year Award following an excellent season, culminating in their superb winning performance in Holland, where they represented the school with distinction.
Following the presentations, the celebrations continued with a lively disco and a filled dance floor. The energy and enthusiasm throughout the evening ensured that the event ended on a real high, with everyone making lasting memories.
It was a fantastic night a wonderful celebration of a hugely successful year for PE, showcasing the talent, hard work and achievements of our students.
Congratulations to all our award winners and thank you to everyone who helped make the evening such a memorable occasion. We look forward to building on this year’s success and celebrating even more achievements in the year ahead.
