Six budding chess players took on Trinity School on Wednesday, 2nd July in what will hopefully be the first of many inter-school chess matches.
Our team was made up of two Year 7s (Leo and Micheal), two Year 8s (Phoebe and Abigail), and two Year 9 students (Caleb and Max). The Trinity team were a tough bunch of competitors – their team being made up of Year 9 and 10 students. Despite this, our team fought very hard and won some amazing games but lost the overall match.
Special prizes went to Leo, who was the MVP of William Howard winning 3 out of his 6 games. Abigail and Pheobe Storey also won the best game prize after winning a team match without taking any pieces. Well done to all the players – we look forward to more chess in and out of school!
