Thirty of our Year 13 students are looking to pursue an apprenticeship once they finish their studies here at WHS. To support them with this process, the students took part in a mock interview afternoon, to gain real-world experience being interviewed by representatives from local companies. It was an incredibly useful experience for all. The students not only looked the part, but were able to talk-the-talk, showing off all their amazing qualities, skills and experiences.
A massive well done to everyone who participated. It is never easy to meet new people, but there was one particularly familiar face among the interviewers…
Graham Petry left WHS in 2020 after his GCSE studies and became one of the youngest apprentices taken on by Armstrong Watson Accountants in Carlisle. Through hard work and commitment, he has progressed impressively and is now an Audit and Assurance Senior. Furthermore, Graham has recently achieved Chartered Accountancy status — a remarkable milestone.
During his visit, his photo was taken beside his ‘Alumni of the Month’ poster. Graham is passionate about giving back to his former school and continues to be a positive role model for current students, including his younger brother in Year 12, who hopes to follow in Graham’s footsteps and pursue a career in the financial sector.
Thank you to all the employer representatives who came along to support our students.
