With a sleepy-eyed early start, Year 12 and 13 Product Design Students zipped down to London yesterday to immerse themselves in the world of design.
First, they visited the Design Museum where they saw the permanent exhibition ‘Designer, Maker and User’. Many of the products featured in the displays are studied in the A Level course.
The group then went on to the Heatherwick Studios, which was a truly inspirational experience! Thomas Heatherwick is a famous British Designer who is responsible for the new red bus and the 2010 Olympic flames pit, to name but two of his designs.
They squeezed in a visit to the shop of Tom Dixon, a British innovator, before ending with a whistle-stop trip to Buckingham Palace.
A big thank you to Mrs Mothersdale and Miss Stewart for stepping in at short notice (due to an injury) to accompany the students, ensuring the trip could go ahead.
