Learning From Local WWI Connections

We welcomed Jules Wooding from Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life into school yesterday to talk to Year 9 History students about the local involvement in WW1.She gave a fascinating talk about the recruitment of soldiers in Carlisle and the local area; the conditions for soldiers fighting in WW1; and the equipment and uniform they were provided with.The students particularly enjoyed the opportunity to handle the original and replica artefacts she’d brought along.
