The Year 10 Food and Nutrition class had a special taste of Ukrainian cooking on Friday when Learning Support Assistant, Miss Kaminska showed the students how to make ‘Mlyntsi’ (pancakes) and ‘Nalysnyky’ from her native country. Nalysnyky are a variation of stuffed mlyntsi. They can be filled with various ingredients and rolled or folded up. We’ve shared the recipe here, so you try them for yourself on Shrove Tuesday.
Then, during break time, there was some flippin’ good fun, when Sixth Form students challenged staff to a pancake race. Eight hilarious head-to-head races were run; 4 won by staff and 4 won by students.
Congratulations to Year 13 Paula Reimartuse who ran the fastest time overall (15.08 seconds), and to Mrs Mothersdale, who expertly tossed her pancake, sprinting down the track and achieving the fastest staff time of 17.59 seconds (perhaps she’d mastered her technique in the Food & Nutrition lesson she’d just taught!)
Well done to all the participants for providing great entertainment! The gulls certainly enjoyed the leftovers!
