Consultation on Proposed Admission Arrangements for 2027/28 Academic Year
Dear Parents, Staff, Local Community Partners and Stakeholders
Cumbria Education Trust as the statutory admission authority for William Howard School is required to consult in accordance with the School Admission Code on any proposed changes to school admission arrangements.
We have recently reviewed our school admissions arrangements and now wish to consult on a reduction to our Published Admission number. There has been a notable decline in pupil numbers across the area, reflecting wider falling school rolls both locally and regionally. A reduced PAN will enable William Howard School to structure its curriculum in a way that ensures balanced class sizes, protect the breadth and quality of subject provision, and support a stable staffing level.
We are now commencing a six-week consultation period, which will run from 15 December 2025 to 26 January 2026. A copy of the proposed admission arrangements can be downloaded here: Admissions Policy (2027-28).
This consultation allows our community to provide input and insights to the changes in admission arrangements. We welcome your feedback and encourage you to share your thoughts. If you would like to ask any questions or make any comments, please email Mrs W Dixon.
Once the consultation period finishes, any responses will be collated and considered. Changes would take effect for admissions from 1st September 2027.
Thank you in advance for your time and contribution to this process. If you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me at mail@williamhoward.cumbria.sch.uk
Yours sincerely
Ms K Pigdon
Headteacher
