Today was the planning day for the YST Inclusive Sports Leadership Day that we are hosting at William Howard School on Friday, 7th February, with schools from around Cumbria attending.
Rachael Mackenzie, athlete mentor for the Youth Sports Trust and former World Champion Thai boxer, visited WHS to meet with Mrs Croucher (our PE Inclusion Lead), and sixth form student Oliver Wightman to plan the day.
Oliver, who is an up-and-coming wheelchair basketball and rugby player, has been selected to be the Youth Role Model for the event. Rachael was very impressed with Oliver’s presentation about his journey in sport that he had prepared and will deliver to students on the day.
There is now an exciting day of activities planned for next Friday, and we’re looking forward to welcoming participating students from across the county.
