Before the students studied the reasons for Duke William of Normandy’s victory at the Battle of Hastings, Mr Campbell tasked his class with researching and creating their own model or project based on what they found.
They presented them in class, informing their classmates about the events of 14th October 1066 and the significance of Senlac Hill. This helped inform students why Duke William defeated King Harold II and why the beginning of a monumental shift in British history occurred upon Senlac Hill.
The students used their expansive knowledge to focus in on and produce an extended report on the reasons for William’s victory and why Harold was defeated.
As you can see, some of the projects on display were incredibly imaginative. Some highlights included a ‘Punch and Judy’ style puppet show of the battle and numerous detailed models made from lollipop sticks. Some projects came in the form of Minecraft and computer programmes showing the battle in moving detail. Whichever way the students completed this task, they all did it incredibly well and proved how dedicated they are to their subject – whilst having fun!
