Congratulation to one of our Year 10 soccer superstars – Oscar Murphy recently attended a talent identification camp at St George’s Park National Football Centre (home to England’s National football teams).
Oscar plays in several of Carlisle United youth teams (U15, U17 and U18) and was put forward for the special training camp by the Lead Youth Development Phase Coach, Danny Grainger.
Taking it all in his stride, Oscar said, “The camp was a really good experience, and I felt quite comfortable there, not pressured at all. There were around 90 attending and all the other lads were really nice.”
Oscar is clearly a talented young footballer, and we look forward to hearing about his future success.
Meanwhile, one of our Year 8 students, Blake Hodgson, was recently named ‘man of the match’ in Creighton RUFC U14s’ winning game against Whitehaven U14s. Noteably, Blake plays an age group above his own.
Their coach, Ste Whyte reported “Creighton U14s travelled to a very wet, windy, muddy and especially cold Whitehaven RUFC”.
“The pitch was very heavy and made things difficult for both teams. Due to the weather, it became very much a forwards led game and I really take my hat off to the backs for sticking it out in the cold and yet still firing when required! We won 31 – 10 with real grit and determination.”
“Man of the match was a hard choice, however Blake took the credit today for a very solid performance from the start right through until the end.”
Well done Blake!
