There’s no denying that the welcome spring sunshine added to the happy atmosphere in school on Red Nose Day today!
The day was kicked off with a special Form Time quiz about Comic Relief, created by Tia from our Student Leadership Team.
Our Sixth Form cyclists completed their week-long challenge, taking on the “longest bike ride” inspired by Radio 1’s Greg James. Mr Anderson (WHS’s Greg James look-alike) stepped in to help students cross the finish line. Special mentions to Max Foster (Y12) and Jamie Judd (Y13) for topping the leaderboard with their total of miles pedalled.
The Year 11 V Sixth Form Derby was a terrific match drawing a huge audience during breaktime. At the end of a high-energy goalless game, a penalty shootout saw the Year 11 team victorious. Well done to all the players – they provided great excitement for the crowds of watching students.
There were laughs all round in our joke competition – Congratulations to Sonny (Y11) and Mr Grogan, both now proud winners of a 2026 Red Nose.
And of course, a huge THANK YOU to everyone who baked for the cake sale and donated – raising £80 today for Comic Relief.
Next up… our incredible WHS Staff Iron Man Team take on their run, swim, and cycle challenge tomorrow – good luck team, we’ll be cheering you on all the way! You can donate to their just giving page https://www.justgiving.com/page/whs-staff-ironman-challenge?utm_medium=FA&utm_source=CL
