This year, Mr Davis and Mr Connolly have been overwhelmed by the number of students who have wanted to come along and play chess each week. Mr Connolly said, “There have been so many that we have been able to launch a Chess Cup for the first time and over the last few weeks students from every year group have been competing each Wednesday. After Easter the group matches will be completed and we will move in to the final play-offs with the champion being announced at the end of April.”
There is always space for more players though, so if you are just beginning or consider yourself a bit of a grand master then you will always be welcome in R1 every Wednesday break 2.
