We strive to provide an extensive programme of extra-curricular activities for our students during breaktimes and after school, and we hope there is something to meet all our students’ varying interests. One thriving club is our Open Minds group which gets together on Tuesday during break 2.
This week, the members have been sharing presentations about their own personal interests. Lexi, Ro, Phoebe, Eliza, Amelie and Corey presented with such passion and knowledge that new hobbies may well have been generated among their peers!
Mr Wilson who supports the group said: “It has been absolutely fantastic to see how passionate these students are about their personal interests. Quite often, these individuals are quiet in class and might not always feel able to raise their voices in the wider school community. Opportunities like this are there to build on the aspirations of students.”
He added: “The group is supported by me, Mrs Booker and Ms Maier, but the students are the real driving force behind it. There is a range of activities we plan to focus on, as suggested by the students, including representation, passion projects, art projects, education opportunities and lots more. I am deeply proud of this group and all that they have achieved so far. The main aim throughout is opening minds to inspiration and aspiration.”
