Since last term, a group of pupils have been working hard at break times on the Axiom Maths programme with Mr Davis. This is an additional maths course which looks at problems that are more open-ended. They require a strategical approach, and often the pupils will work with each other to try and arrive at the solutions. Some of these problems are the starting point for a lot of higher-level maths, and the skills they learn benefit them in their lessons too.
Two of our students, Rebecca Jones and Leo Marsden have been accepted to the axiom maths summer camp at Cambridge University in the summer holidays.
Mr Davis said: “These students attend willingly at break times because they find the problems stimulating and enjoyable, and I am very proud of their progress.”
