How to Apply
To apply, write a letter answering the following questions:
- How will attending an Outward Bound course make a difference to your character?
Share how this experience could shape you personally, help you grow, and support your development as a person. - Why do you have a passion for the outdoors?
Tell us what excites you about being outside, exploring nature, challenging yourself and engaging with the natural world.
Application Guidelines
- Who can apply?
All students in all year groups - Letter format:
Typed or handwritten letters are accepted. Letters should be no more than 500 words. - Submission details:
Send your letter by email to wdixon@williamhoward.cumbria.sch.uk or by hand to Ms Pigdon.
Applications must be submitted by Friday, 16th January 2026.
Selection Process
All applications will be reviewed by Ms Pigdon, Mr O’Connor and Ms Harpham and winners will be selected based on how clearly and passionately they express their answers to the two questions.
