Year 8 and Year 9 students recently enjoyed an exciting and rewarding outdoor learning experience at Talkin Tarn, working with Talkin Adventures as part of the Skills Module within our Outdoor Learning and Character Curriculum.
The day focused on teamwork, communication and resilience, as pupils learned how to design and build a raft using specialist equipment before putting their creations to the test on the water. Once launched, teams had to work together effectively to paddle and manoeuvre their rafts, adapting their approach as challenges were introduced.
On the water, pupils took part in a range of activities designed to test collaboration and problem-solving skills, including collecting rubber ducks and an energetic game of dodgeball. These tasks required clear leadership, cooperation and trust, helping pupils to develop confidence in both themselves and their teammates.
With excellent weather conditions and a fantastic atmosphere throughout the sessions, pupils rose to the challenge with enthusiasm and determination. A great time was had by all, and it was wonderful to see pupils demonstrating resilience, teamwork and positive character traits outside the classroom.
This experience forms an important part of our commitment to developing well-rounded learners through meaningful outdoor learning opportunities.
