There was a pleasing abundance of certificates awarded in the Year 8 assembly on Tuesday morning.
Following the Year 8 Assessment Week at the end of last half term – in which the cohort’s continued effort and hard work were clearly evident – certificates were presented to the students who achieved the highest scores in their classes. Special congratulations to Jack D who earned the Gold Award for achieving the highest average score in the year.
At the beginning of May, many of the Year Group undertook the UK Maths Trust Junior Maths Challenge. We are proud to say that some of those students successfully achieved bronze, silver or gold certificates for attaining high scores. Well done to everyone!
On top of this, three students were presented with their prizes, following another Maths competition. Year 8 Mathematicians were recently presented with a challenge to design a poster, a PowerPoint presentation or revision cards, for a choice of topics: Maths on the Farm; Time and Measurement; Maps and Scales; or Maths in Nature.
Maths Teacher, Mr Davis said: “There were many fantastic submissions to the competition, and lots of the students got very creative and artistic.”
Our Sixth Form Mathematicians judged the projects and determined the three winners. A huge well done goes to Emmy, Ruby and Ciara for creating their excellent work.
